• Alberta: Your referral in Alberta is good for one year from the date you were last seen. For example, if you were last seen on August 24, 2019. You would need to be seen prior to August 24, 2020 to keep your file open. If you are not seen within the year, you need a new referral.
  • British Columbia: Your referral in British Columbia is good for 6 months from the date you were last seen. For example, if you were last seen on August 24, 2019. You would need to be seen prior to February 24, 2020 to keep your file open. If you are not seen within 6 months, you need a new referral.
    • You can obtain a referral from any community physician, such as a family doctor or gynecologist. If you do not have a family doctor you can use a walk-in clinic or access virtual care e.g. Babylon or Access Virtual.
  • Referral after a baby: Once you have had a baby and want to come back again, you will need a new referral. Even if you have embryos here, you still require a new referral.
