Booking Instructions for HSG or HyCoSy

How to Book

On Day 1 of your menstrual period (or the next business day), please call one of the radiology clinics listed below and provide the following message:
“I am a patient of Dr. (your PCRM doctor). It is the first day of my period, and I need to book an HSG.”
For HyCoSy, the same timing applies unless otherwise noted.

If you need assistance with faxing off your requisition to your desired location, please contact your physician’s Medical Office Assistant, and they can assist you with this.

If you book at one of the hospitals, you may need a requisition for a urine pregnancy test and the hospital will give you instructions regarding this.

Unfortunately, there are limited appointments available at many facilities. It may take several months to get in, so please continue to try these locations each month. When calling, please mention how many months you have been trying to book as this may help speed up the booking process.

There are also a few private-pay facilities listed above should you wish to explore those options, Kinetix offers a private pay HSG which is the most accurate option between HSG and HyCoSy. Luna Insite and Greig Associates offers a private-pay HyCoSy, which is an exam like HSG but is done using ultrasound instead of an xray.

Please take a pain reliever medication, preferably an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen one hour prior to the procedure. Although some patients experience menstrual-type cramps following the procedure, most women can resume normal activities and return to work.
