British Columbia Launches Publicly Funded IVF Program
This week, the Province of British Columbia officially opened applications for its publicly funded in vitro fertilization (IVF) program. This important initiative provides coverage for one round of IVF for eligible BC residents and is a historic step forward in making fertility care more accessible and equitable.
Dr. Ken Seethram played a key advisory role as part of the government sub-committee that helped shape the rollout of the program. Speaking at the Ministry of Health’s press conference, Dr. Seethram emphasized the program’s potential to eliminate financial barriers to IVF, offer renewed hope to individuals and couples facing infertility, and contribute to addressing Canada’s declining fertility rate.
We commend Dr. Seethram and the entire PCRM team for their leadership in this crucial conversation and for their continued dedication to helping more Canadians access the care they need to build the families they deserve.
